Who we are

Music is life. Harry Chapin’s Mr. Tanner knew that. Although often seen as a tragic figure, we see it different. For music to have its full effect on us, we have to explore, tune to it, be a part of it, and ultimately find our place in it. Whether professional or amature, tone-deaf or perfect pitch, music is an energy and force that can edify our life.

We founded the Music Research Institute to write, speak, and discuss music in our contemporary society to remember where music came from, why music matters, and how music impacts in our modern society.

Never has celebrity, money, and selfishness been so apparent in the music scene yet so absent from those who truly love music.

We create and support music research as a way to explore life, contemporary culture, and ourselves and from our study, we find freedom and liberation.

Join us on this journety into all things music.

Throughout our annual research agenda, we chart our course for where we will explore. Through our studies and deliverables we will create context, perspective, knowledge, and discourse.

We have spent over 100 years studying, learning, and researching music as we have built skills, performed, experienced, and lived music. Now, we seek to interpret, discuss, and evolve our understanding by publishing and interacting with others who have a similar passion for music as life.
